whats gas and whats spring?

        Gas usually means either compressed air or co2 powers the gun.  Spring means that the force to drive out the pellet comes from a compressed spring that releases when you pull the trigger. __________ WJS/wi/usa

In airguns, using co2 or compressed air may be the case.  However, in airsoft, a gas gun usually refers to a gun that uses green gas, or something similar.  Any of these gases, which are made solely for the purpose of airsoft guns, are very similar to computer duster.  I know KWC makes rifles that use external CO2 tanks, and there may be others that usea similar system.  But usually a gas airsoft gun is considered to be one that uses green gas, and is usually a blowback pistol.  The spring guns are just that. They use a spring to either propel the BB, or to build up air pressure to propel the BB. Crazy Steve

usuly, in catalogs, airsoft guns are listed as spring when you have to cock the gun each time you fire, and gas guns fill up with gas (in much the same way as a lighter) and the gas fires the bb's so you don't have to cock the gun in between shots.
