Ladies and Gentleman, I would appreciate a few minutes of your time, I know you are all busy people. I am looking for advice and possibly volunteers for a new project that I am hoping to start up in the near future. Some of you may be aware of the International Adventure Corps through various Airsoft websites. Basically the International Adventure Corps will start up in the UK and initially run training weekends once a month (location undecided) along similar lines to the current cadet forces (Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadet Corps and Marine Cadet Corps) run by ex forces/cadets staff and experienced airsoft/paintball people. We will be initially training the members in basic airsoft gaming, the rules, safety considerations and so forth. This will culminate in two camps - 1 week at Easter and 2 weeks in the Summer, where the members will take part in a reenactment of a chosen battle decided by the members in advance. This will not just be a lets go shoot people week, but will involve the members reasearching the battles, interviewing veterans and historians about the battle, gathering as much information as possible. They will then reenact part of the battle as it was fought tactically at the time. Once the reenactment is over they will then evaluate the effectiveness of the tactics, the type of warfare, morale, etc again discussing with veterans, historians, and other people in small groups. They will then present this information to the rest of the members in a vasriety of forms - presentation, acting, tactical displays, etc. We are proposing to initially start with airsoft weaponry and as we gain momentum move into other branches. We think that if the IAC grows we may be able to offer this as a facilty for schools as a 'live' history lesson. Our website is at
www.op-pheonix.com where you can find further information to what I have touched on here. We are looking for people initially in the UK but if things take off, internationally, to become technical advisors, safety officers, marshalls, airsoft instructors, and a whole range of other activities including committee members for those who do not have as much time as they would like! I would really appreciate your comments and criticisms as this is a working progress and we value your input. Once again, thank you for your time! Regards, Ruth Cheesley Major (IAC) R. Cheesley 2IC Commanding Officer Basic Training International Adventure Corps
