mp5 player PC World "Battening down the prices"

What really gets me is the PC World adverts on the TV stating that they are battening down the prices, when clearly they are much more than most places. The Rio MP5 p_layer_ is £129.99 in PC World and less than £100 at Insight, and PC World would not do a price match. Most blank CDR's are around £2, though they are doing the Kodak Optimas for £1 each on offer if you get 30....are these any good? And, the only competition in the Portsmouth area is Novatech - Curry's and Dixons are the same prices (same group) and none will price match. We just have an unhealthy monopoly.

I can't agree with that John. You have Novatech (Hello David), DME, M2 (Hello Matthew), DME, PC Unlimited (Hello Paul), DME and like everyone else in this country, a healthy and competitive mail order option. PCWorld and its group of companies will always have a big market, picking up the clueless and the first time computer buyer, we just pick up the pieces and sell them their second machine. Do you know anyone who has made more than one system purchase from the likes of PCWorld, Tiny, Time, etc.? Regards.

Yes, in fact I do, I know a guy who has bought 2 m/cs from time, 2 years apart and he had no problems with them. Although this newsgroup tells many tales of woe with Time, he nor I have not had a problem with them. And re the other posts, I don't buy from PCW, except when their goods are on special offer and good value....which is rare
