g&g airsoft Airsoft question
I am looking at Airsoft guns on ebay. is there a specific pressure (?) that I should focus on. I am not planning to use it as Ambrose , but figure if I can find one on ebay that would be cool to have for later games , it might be neat to have one. Pat

Well remember in Airsoft terms you generaly get what you pay for. Don't by cheap if you plan to use it in battle for any length of time, however if your just looking for a prop then go cheap. You may want to consider anything over 250 FPS for a combat weapon, ICS,Classic Army, G&G are good high end companies. Echo 1 or AandK makegood servicable weapons and good cost. I would suggest a Full _meta_l weapon for Durability. Things that I always consider are Strength ( I do fall on the ground allot), reliabilty ( you dont want to pay allot for a engine that will burn out after 2 fights) and ...believe it or not...battery placement. My suggestion is to decide what kind of weapon you want, then go out to airsoft sites (Airsplat, Airsoft GI, Precission Airsoft) and read reviews...look on Youtube to see if there is a video review ( you'd be surprised). Then shop...ebay will give you good prices but watch shipping charges, Airsplat has good prices and free shipping (over 100 dollars). you may want to drop a email to the Security and combat threads group if you have any questions and we can help you out.

g&g airsoft Airsoft question

In Threads terms I think it is safe to say that we will never have any consistent specifications for guns. There are two reasons for this. One is that the GMs don't agree on what is reasonable or desirable in combat. I'm all for pretty much unlimited FPS, and heavy guns with high fire rates. Other GMs prefer something in the middle, or low end guns. The other problem is that low end manufacturers lie. Guns sold by inexpensive manufacturers as 350FPS often have visibly less range and power than a Tokyo Marui gun sold as 300FPS. So I think our general policy is going to have to be look on the sheet. However there is a bit of math to do here. The limits I've seen commonly stated are 300 FPS 400FPS or spring only. Realistically I don't think you can determine the difference between 300 and 400, and a lot of guns are sold at some nominal measure like 320 that is probably unrealistic. In practice what has been fielded is any heavy weapon in the tent and spring pistols only. That said, individual Scenario GMs have the right to set standards and limit guns. I'm only going to enforce that they do it FAIRLY, and not except some high powered guns while allowing others. So the higher a power you buy the more scenes you may be screened out of. In general I think a 300-350 gun is unlikely to be screened out of any scenarios that allow heavy guns. Obviously anything that isn't a spring pistol isn't okay in spring scenes.
