For the first time I am fletching a dozen Beman ICS Camo Hunter shafts and I noticed a strange phenomenon (at least strange to me). I wonder if anyone else has experienced it, and if so, if they have determined the cause. I prepped the shaft by lightly rubbing the area where the Plastifletch vanes are attached with a scotch-brite pad in order to remove the glossy finish (this was recommended by the dealer at the pro-shop). I then attached the vanes using the AAE Fast-set gel glue and an aluminum Bitzenburger Jig. After a few minutes, a white powdery residue began to appear both on the shaft of the carbon arrows, and on the vanes. Is this a result of some type of chemical reaction between the glue and the carbon (or the finish)? I have fletched over three hundred aluminum arrows and have never experienced this coating before. Why would carbon be different? Furthermore, does this diminish the integrity of the carbon shaft in any way? Thanks for any help. Sincerely, Chris
