I recently had a chance to see a friend's airsoft pistol. It was modelled after the US Beretta M92F and molded in clear transparent plastic so it looked like a toy. The mechanism was electric, using a motor and 4 AAA batteries to propel plastic ball bearings. This is technically a toy since even the neighbourhood stores sell cheap toy guns that shoot plastic BBs. What I'd like to know is, is this particular gun considered by customs, etc, to be a real firearm? I'm interested in knowing exactly what customs allows through, and what isn't. I don't mean those that look like full-scale assault rifles, etc. I've also seen in foreign shops obviously fake airsoft electrics that look like a deformed AK, M16, etc. They're 1/3 scale and squished lengthwise. How about these?
