I've got some problems with the way tactics & strategy are presented as MH skills. This seems to me to be a naked attempt at munchkin control. How hard can it be to figure out that the best way to get a guy dead is to stab him in the back, when he isn't looking, or after you jump out of the bush you've been hiding in. This makes it very tough for a PC with a weapons skill of 12, and a default level of tactics (5) to survive in mass combat (12 +5/2=8.5, rnd to 8). This may be realistic, but it is unsatisfying, especially if your weapon skill is 16 (BS of 10 using the previous example). Can someone explain to me why these skills are so hard, and if anyone has a fix for it? Thanks! Tom Nadratowski(
