#I've been a member of the New Albany Shooting Range (http://www.nasr.com) #since opening day a few years ago. They keeping changing the rules on #range use so much that I've even considered not renewing. It hasn't #gotten to that point yet, since it is, by far, the best indoor range #anywhere in central Ohio. # #I can understand why they don't let you shoot ammo with any steel #in the bullets (but they just ban ammo that has any steel anywhere in #it). I can even understand why they want you to shoot jacketed ammo #only. # #The restrictions on full-auto shooting (members only, non-holiday #weekdays 10am to 6pm only, you have to buy their ammo[!]) almost #made me quit. # #However, this latest rule (or clarification ) really upsets me. #They now will no longer let you shoot ANY military surplus ammo. #They do sell range brass to reloaders, so maybe they are just too #lazy to look sort out the berdan primed ammo. # #Am I justified in being upset about this ? Do any other privately #owned and operated indoor ranges in the US prohibit all military #surplus ammo ? The indoor range I use recently banned all steel jacketed ammo, after having to replace all of their bullet traps. But that's the only significant restriction on ammunition, fortunately. I shoot (almost) only cast lead slugs for their economy. If I had to switch to jacketed ammo only it would really put a crimp in my shooting fun. (No pun intended). In my area there are a few ranges that restrict the use of lead slugs. My range is tested for airborne lead, ( I'm not sure how often) and I expect as long at they are within whatever the state mandated level is, they'll continue to allow the use of cast lead slugs.
