I bought a Canadian Army surplus external _frame_ pack pretty cheap, it's in great shape. I used it last year and found it very comfortable, rugged etc...but I'm thinking maybe I should have spent a little extra and bought the newer, flashy and lightweight nylon commercial ones. After all, this stuff *is* designed for big, burly men,not smaller women, right? Does anyone else use army surpus camping stuff? The store near here has really good stuff, and having been in the militia(ages ago) I know this equipment works. But maybe the non-army stuff is better.......I know it's a lot more expensive! undecided, Chris reply here or

Does anyone know of a source of Canadian Military Rations (MREs). They taste a hell of a lot better than the US made ones and any help would be appreciated. Also any ideas on the European MREs too! THanks.. Jon

Evaluate them as you would any other brand . `I have no experience with Canadian military backpacks but the commercial stuff in the USA is far superior to any of the US military packs I have tried. My first pack was a mil surplus and I never regretted dumping it for a Sierra Design long ago.
