RLM I think you must admit that Bir Hakim was not even a flea on an elephant. Maybe a proud moment for a France undergoing some very hard times and short of any good news, the world at large took no notice, sorry. I salute the brave Frenchmen who chose, or were in a position to, fight against the occupiers of their homeland. However brave and honorable they may have been, their actions were on a scale much too small to be taken into much account by anyone but the French. Do you know of Battle of Wilson's Creek ? Battle of Round Mountain ? Battle of Cedar Mountain ? Battle of Cold Harbor ? Probably not, unless you are a student of the American civil war. They meant nothing to anyone but us, and had no implications anywhere outside of the USA. Same with tiny French actions during WW2.
