A few days ago, and I hope this isn't old news in here, I received a mailing from the NATIONAL WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL organization. I figured it was a request for further donations. I had joined the National World War II Memorial as a Charter Member, out of respect for what our soldiers did in the war and out of an awareness of the need for this important monument in Washington DC. This may be one of the first mailings I've ever received from any organization that was not a request for money. Instead, it was a request for help. As some of you may know, a small-but-vocal (aren't they all) group of nay-sayers have opposed this monument, generally claiming it would spoil the National Mall where it is planned to be built. There are people in this country that want World War II swept under the rug of political correctness. Forget Pearl Harbor, we need to apologize for Hiroshima. And they certainly don't want a World War II Memorial. The update I received speaks of new trouble, and a new need for support. I present the letter I received herewith.
